AMA is so thinly traded that changes in the price are not meaningful in terms of ex-div calcs. 1c up or down on AMA is just noise. If the market perception is that AMA is solidly underpinned and has growth prospects, then share price weakness is just a buying opportunity. It doesn't have to fall when it goes ex-div.

Telstra paid a 14c div last month but the share price is the same as when it went ex-div, despite the enormous volumes on trade. 14c is not noise on TLS but the perception is that TLS is solidly underpinned, hence no drop. If you bought TLS at $3.06 in August, you got a 14c div plus franking in September - call it 19c, and today the shares are still worth what you paid.
