I wonder how soon, if ever, the females work out that the alpha male is shooting blanks and start to deny him. Don't underestimate the female of the species.
The 2200 birds are nothing that time will not fix and it's hardly a political issue. I support what's going on down there and I'm so pleased that the cats are gone - whether the rabbits should have/could have been targeted first is on no consequence if in the long run the island returns to its natural state. Plus it's a great model for future similar exercises and we can learn from it. I'd kill a lot more cats in Australia if I had my way. A lot :)
