The water was not to blame for stopping at 1,000m at Merriden. The rig would have continued very easily to 3,000 metres with the water that was present. It was penetrating at over 30 metres per hour at 1,000m and we were getting over 100 metres of bit life with average bit designs. The only reason the rig was stopped was because the board decided to stop spending any more money.

so lets be careful with regards to making any apsersions
