Funding wise AMP can probably finance itself for a merger/takeover offers on:

BEN - Bendigo And Adelaide Bank (Market Cap$ 3,379,917,036)
BOQ - Bank of Queensland (Market Cap$ 1,872,820,936)
ROK - The Rock Building Society (Market Cap$ 69,194,403)



IMHO none to cause any major anti-competition issues.


Consider market areas for each, their customer profiles, their longer term shareholder profiles... each appear take similar longer term views.


Offer can present as positive merger, use shares-for-shares offer, may be easier to make attractive, as well as reduce actual capital outlay :-)



AMP agents teaming up with branches can contribute to expand branch field services, include some bank branch personnel in visit the customer tasks, thus compliment and contribute to more customer friendly service from local banks.



Reading this again, AMP and all three above could probably negotiate such a merge at once.

Indeed such a merger of all could be positively presented to public as one giant leap by four litle David's combining to really challenge "Big Four" Goliath's dominance !






BTW as often these things may sound a lot better than when you read real internal book numbers !
