That is an interesting take on the US trials. THe Rawlins and Rocky Mountains "trials" formed the foundation of the most advanced UCG technologies.
These operations were successful on so many levels. Rawlins in particular ran for over three months gasifying 7,000 tonnes of coal at a rate of up to 200 tonnes per day. CNX have gasified more coal than that but have not achieved these production rates.
