has anyone attempted to subtract the solar cycle variation from the temperature data?

if they have, did it produce a straighter line?

is that a valid thing to do see if indeed there is a high degree of correlation between the rise in CO2 and temperature?

I believe atmospheric CO2 concentration has been rising in a straight line for some time?
