The percentaage of people killed on our roads each year is tiny, that does not mean it's OK or should be ignored.
One of my brothers-in-law took over the management of a hotel in a community of about 1200 people in rural NSW.
He has 6 'problem gamblers' who spend much of their day playing his poker machines - to the detriment of their families & their welfare. Their problems are community issues that are difficult to address under current rules.
His business is based around his community & his pub is a focus of that community. He even provides a community bus to drive poeple home safely etc.
He would be happy with just half of his poker machines & the new pre-loss commitment but then he places value on community & family well-being.
