re: Ann: Major 3D-IP Survey Commenced at Moin... There are current proposals for 10 open cut mines in the 'Tarkine' region of Tasmania. The largest open cut currently operating is at Savage River. Bryan Green, the minister responsible, only this week has stated the need for mining income to play a major part in keeping the state afloat. The govt have just cut over $100m from the health budget and are desperate for income!
The probability is that the Labour/Green govt will get soundly thrashed at the next election and the Liberals are more pro mining that Labour.
The west and north west of Tasmania is one of the most heavily mineralised areas on the planet and has been successfully mined for over a century.
So to those who think FNTs Tassie ground lacks relevence I reckon you need to think again. I'm all for FNT jorcing a couple of prospects up and flogging them off to fund PNG.
