G'day H ,
Firstly , thanks for representing the rest of us at the meeting today. I have no doubt that you gave them the grilling that they deserved.
While I'm sure they're all off patting each other on the back and celebrating with our money , they will never be able to deny that they let down their shareholders. I could use words such as lied , dishonest and misled as well as clearly incompetent , but I'II probably refrain at this time for obvious reasons. I'm hoping karma will do the job for me.
So , we may as well not waste this opportunity to reflect on what we've learnt over the journey . As far as trusting management people with one's hard earned , well , unfortunately there have been far too many bad examples ( not just ESG ).
Upon reflection , there were a few things that always concerned me.
One was the big payrise that DC got a while back . Went from 400k to about 1mill I think. I was suprised at the time and privately thought that it might have been a conpensatery deal which was not disclosed.
The second was when DK intervened when DC was up for a big share issue. Once again , it seemed a bit suss. Especially because the "enemy " had become a friend. I noted the change in DC's regard for STO at that particular agm.
And lastly , the lack of information and the inevitable snow job that went with the under performance. I realize we all discussed this issue many times and I guess what I'm going to take from this is that if my gut warns me next time , I'm going to listen. There are always plenty of other stocks to move to rather than feel 'uncomfortable' holding one.
As far as the ESG thread goes , it has enabled me to meet some absolutely top quality people ( not ESG management! ). There is no doubt I have learnt plenty along the way. I'II still be poking around HC in the future so I look forward to sharing ideas with the aformentioned people again.
