Specified compassionate grounds for release (administered by APRA)

APRA administers the very limited circumstances where benefits may be released on specified compassionate grounds. These are defined in Superannuation Industry (Supervision) Regulations and only cover expenses in respect of:
Medical treatment, Medical transport, Mortgage assistance, Modifications to your home and/or motor vehicle, Funeral assistance and Care for terminal medical condition.
There doesn't appear to be a limit on this (based on needs) but not all funds will release under these conditions, which I have seen an example of many years ago.

Financial Hardship is limited to $10k and is administered by the fund. Looks like you need to be on benefits for some time etc.
