purd's take on nucore

Purd, as would have been clear, to those who read your post before it was moderated, there was a massive disconnect between your portrait of Gus (exhilarating, powerful brain, what a mind etc) and your take on the Nucore influence and its role in the company's silence over the past several months.

Purd, Gus is the CEO and Executive Chairman of PEN. He brought the Lance project to PEN. It is his baby. The company still has reasonable cash reserves. Do you really think someone in his position - and someone that you clearly think is a genius with amazing personal power - is going to crawl into a hole and become all timid of a sudden just because someone comes along with an interest in investing in his 'baby' and maybe tries to throw his weight around.

That is drawing a very long bow purd. Do you really believe that gus would be that timid or that easily manipulated?

Instead, I think the silence is all to do with the very unexpected (in Gus' mind, at least) outcomes of the DFS and/or its failure to attract development capital. There is no other way way to explain the 'imminent' and the '10-15 days' and then the subsequent complete turnabout - in both the DFS strategy and his approach to communicating with shareholders.

For whatever reason, despite his 'great mind', he was not on top of the 'imminent' DFS results (the reason for Marlow leaving?). The silence is probably just a consequence of the embarassment of that debacle - a matter of 'once bitten, twice shy' - together with nothing particularly worthwhile to talk about.
