I just posted this on another thread, but it is relevant here also.

Don't be too quick to union bash or government bash just for the sake of it, have a closer look at what is actually going on.

Joyce has purposely engineered this situation when options were available to him to have it resolved quickly.

    __________________________________________________________

The government can only step in when the dispute reaches a certain point, it only reached that point on Saturday. The government stepped in and now the process is in the hands of FWA.

"..The federal government asked for the hearing following Qantas' shock announcement on Saturday to immediately and indefinitely ground it domestic and international flights and lock out engineers, pilots and other employees, beginning on Monday night..."

"We've had industrial action by the unions, we've now got industrial action by the company...Tony Abbott"

"Unions have urged for a 90-day suspension of the industrial action to allow negotiations to continue."

So the unions are prepared to have no industrial action for 90 days and Joyce still grounds Qantas indefinitely.

"...documents presented to FWA revealed that senior management at Qantas were aware of plans to ground the airline 10 days ago..."

"AIPA Vice President Richard Woodward said he believed Mr Joyce had been planning the move for several months."

As a Qantas shareholder I believe that the Qantas board should be prosecuted for withholding material information from shareholders. And also the board should be sacked for grounding and destroying our business.

"...Union boss Paul Howes said that at no stage did the airline seek government intervention or use a range of provisions under the Fair Work Act that could have delivered an earlier end to the dispute."

Joyce has been playing everyone and claiming that he is the victim.

He should stop the bull, accept the 90 days of no industrial action. That will give Qantas and the Unions 21 days to negotiate a solution and if none can be agreed, the FWA will make the determination.

All before the end of the 90 days of no industrial action.

Joyce has purposely gone down this road against the best interests of all shareholders, workers, customers and Australia.

Sack Joyce and put in someone who does not add to the problem.
