    Thanks everyone for your input.

    As i said in my earlier post, he is after a stock that he knows something about. Mining stocks don't interest him, so companies like LYC, BHP or Gold would not be on the agenda.

    Not to say he won't change his mind in the future.
    I had even looked at Harvey Norman. However, again he wants either Woollies or CCL and i believe they are a better option. Of the two i will suggest to him WOW as i believe food prices will continue to rise including down the track, food shortages.

    I wish i had parents who taught me about the power of compounding at an early age.

    Not too late to teach my sons even if both stocks have had a decent run of late. Better for them to learn now than wait for possible dips. Its not about the price as much as the long term future.
