For me the bottom line is are Australian jobs going offshore? If the answer is yes then that can't be good for the country.
We have seen the ugly face of globalisation in the US where corporate greed has seen major employers move offshore and take the jobs with them to the detriment of millions of Americans.
Maybe it's time to think about some form of protectionism. Let's be honest it's happening in many other countries. For the sake of our social fabric we must protect Australian jobs.
There are lots of ways this can and should be done including the encouragement of science and engineering studies but we also must curb the powers of the multinationals.
