Yes, the Leigh Clifford, the board and Alan Joyce got their fingers badly burned on this shutdown caper.

Some brilliant strategy indeed, no wonder Qantas did not pay any dividends, it will need pretty deep pockets to pay all this compensation. This should come from CEO and Boards remuneration funds, not shareholders money.

Why can not these people through their thick skulls that in Australia you have to treat people and employees differently than in Bangladesh.
Asian airlines would never do thing like this they respect their customers much more than this arrogant ovepriced mob.
If the intend to run their Asian business like this, they will bankrupt us all. Some premium airline indeed.

I hope the institutional shareholders are proud of themselves now, for backing a pay rise for this pirate who though nothing of letting 60,000 passengers to sit on their suitcases, some of them stuck abroad and in transit without any place to go.

How are they going to compensate people who did not go to expensive hotels, instead sleeping rough at the airports around the world?

This CEO deserves to be sacked together with his militant chairman and the rest of the incompetent board.

All their know is how to feather their own nest and everybody else can go and get stuffed.

I hope the senate inquiry will throw the book at them.
