I don't know if it was co-incidence, but I think I did okay this week becasue I set my buys in place and left them alone, tried to ignore the sentiment of the forum and especially the news.

Last week I did the same with my sells - mind you - I haven't sold any of yesterdays buys - and they are getting long in the tooth in this market - 24 hrs already - so it's just theory.

It stands to reason that if you pick a buy point of your favourite stock - say 5% lower than what it is today - it will probably get there inside a few weeks. If you then immediately put a sell order for 5 to 10 % higher than your buy price, it will likely get there in a few weeks. It has to be companies that aren't going to disappear overnight though. The Banks or RIO would be good.

You have to keep it methodical and unemotoional though.

I'm sure you all already know all this.
