"Opposition to the tax is shrinking."
I mentioned in one of my posts a week or so ago that if the Labor government can explain clearly and convincingly to the voters in NSW, Victoria, Tasmania, and possibly South Australia its rationale for the mining tax and the benefits thereof, it has a good chance to win the 2013 election.
I won't worry too much WA's opposition. there are only 15 House of Representatives in that state and 15, I think, of the 15 are already held by the coalition. It is a lost cause to try to appease WA.
With what happened in Qld in the past year, what with the floods, and cyclones, Qld voters will warm to the idea of some of the tax revenue from the mining tax being used in the reconstruction of Qld, especially if Rudd is back as the prime minister.
