    morning,

"All of a sudden the bright blue sky turned dark.
    Then turned black.
    Then went flash bang dump.

We were in the middle of a fairly narrow waterway surrounded by wooded hills and the lightening was hitting the trees on both sides of the riverbank. Burning spars were falling into the river around us.

    Then it got worse. "

My god damonomad - are you sure this wasn't a Mad Max movie - I have lived in Tassie for all up 12 years now - and the Island hasn't seen excitement like that since Errol Flynn was still around.

Sorry you missed the bream - tassie now has let the bream secret out of the bag and we now get a hell of a lot of bream specialists here - not as many as who chase trout but it is growing.
The magic 4lb bream is very very achievable in tassie - just don't eat them from the Derwent.
You didn't need a licence for saltwater btw (for those who don't know).

this year Arthurs has been fishing well (full) and Great Lake has produced a lot of fish, but most are very thin - levels are way up and there isn't much to eat around the edge in Great Lake.
Salmon are running, whitebait are running, flathead are around in numbers - St Helens, Sisters and many other places. We got some reef fish off Ulverstone a few days back - usually pretty thin there but it was too windy to launch at Port Sorell and Devonport. Will go to Pt Sorell later this week if the weather is good.
Even Barrington has had a lot of big Atlantic salmon caught lately - I don't get too fussed on them (they are burnt out farm roosters :) - or more likely hens).

If any of you want to keep up with tassie fishing - check

(find your way to the fishing scene and latest reports on saltwater and freshwater)

Damon - let me know when you come down next ------- we are always looking for a good laugh :)

You have got to be one of the best lightning attractors around - we don't often get light shows here - it is the one thing I miss from not living in the tropics and sub tropics.

Of course Aurora Australis would make up for it - but it has been 12 years now and I haven't seen it once ----- yet.

thanks for your report ----- I loved it, cost me a heap of tissues I was laughing so much I cried.

    c soon

    Pinto
