I for one appreciate the angle david25 takes on investing. He's a stakeholder and free to express his views on the company. There is a diverse set of opinions expressed within the company board, I'm not sure why you'd expect any different amongst various shareholders?
I'm personally upset with the company I mean...
"Hey guys we've got a pull of cash sitting here, what shall we do with it?"
"Salary hikes for us?" "Aye"
"Bonuses for us?" "Aye"
"Buying up a partial stake in a speculative exploration entity?" "Aye"
"Dividends for the stakeholders?" "Nay, we may need the money if the costs for MtMagnet get out of control!"
"Hey guys, we may have stuffed up, I don't think we have enough money to commit towards MtMagnet, where shall we get the money from?"
"Repeal our salary hikes?" "Nay"
"Repeal our bonuses?" "Nay"
"Sell down our speculative investments?" "Nay"
"Ask the stakeholders for more money?" "Aye, they love us and gladly put out!"
That is exactly how the boardroom discussions went. It's also a certain bet they decided to find new shareholders (the North American funds) to garner support for themselves as I believe many current shareholders were expressing discontent with them - and of course the best to shut them up is by diluting them (hence another reason why the setup of the capital raising penalises larger voices).
