Ernest1 - You can't consider Sigmas one off special dividend in terms of any future outlook. You can only base it on perhaps the two companies basic financial fundamentals and the last dividend paid and future prospects. API's future dividends will have franking credits no doubt. Having the odd unfranked dividends in your portfolio can be pretty insignificant if you have plenty of other franking credits and a marginal tax rate of less than 30% as many investors (including me) will have.
So my point simply was if you were choosing today to invest in Sigma or API where would you get better value for money in the future.
