Mantle obviously still progressing at BM. Mantle also saying JV with Exergen actively progressing. No power station at BM. Why would Exergen be interested in Mantles BM brown coal. IMO and the opinion of many on here it can only be for an export project to India via the existing transport route direct from BM to the port of Geelong.

From following extract you will see also that Exergen are mixing with the right people -

John Pereira, the President of the AIBC(Australia-India Business Council) in Victoria at a recenet event.

    "Good Evening ladies and gentlemen,
Firstly I would like to thank the Honourable Ted Baillieu, MLA, Premier of Victoria for making the time to attend tonight’s 25th Silver Anniversary of the Australia India Business Council.
Secondly I would like to make a special welcome to the recently appointed Consul General of the Republic of India, for Victoria, Dr. S.K. Behera and his wife.
James Breheny my Vice President will acknowledge all our important guests and sponsors tonight and we very much appreciate the enormous support given by the government of Victoria and the business community by attending tonight. Thank You.

The Australia India Business Council is the peak commercial body responsible for trade between Australia and India. It today counts its membership in excess of 500 businesses and individuals throughout Australia and is represented here tonight by some of Australia’s largest corporations, including the ANZ Bank, Qantas, Middletons, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Central Equity and many others.
On a recent trip to Brisbane I attended the Australia India Business Council’s Queensland Annual Address and was amazed to witness the transformation of the interest and attendees at that event. Resources, particularly coal, and Infrastructure were a highlight and this was endorsed by The Federal Government Minister for Resources, Energy and Tourism, Martin Ferguson. Our National Chairman, Arun Sharma is here tonight to represent those interests.

Tonight represents an opportunity for us to further develop our initiatives in promoting bilateral trade relations between Victoria and India. In particular to support the State Government’s initiatives, with their Trade Engagement Program with India through the Department of Business and Innovation. Welcome to Geoffrey Conaghan, Commissioner to India for the Victorian Government based in Bangalore. I applaud the State Government’s initiatives and particularly the efforts of their staff, whom we have been working with closely on key areas of interest.
I would like to bring your attention to the latest copy of the Asian Executive magazine produced by our Media sponsor and partner. Richard Wong, the Editor, has done a great job, particularly of the Premiers photograph, which indeed he looks very handsome!

I will be unveiling the Baillieu issue shortly which records an interview with The Premier and a description of the Trade Engagement Program with India. I encourage you to read this.
My comments tonight asks the question: “What is the role that Victoria needs to play in its trade relations with India?” There is no single answer, but what we do know is that it is fundamentally important to the world economy, now and in the future, and will be an intrinsic part of Victoria’s business and social fabric. We need to embrace the opportunities as presented.

    INDUSTRY:
I recently had the opportunity to host the Confederation of Indian Industry’s, Defence and Aerospace chapter. I was amazed to be told that this was India’s first initiative of this chapter to Australia. The leader of the delegation informed me that he was excited about the opportunities in Victoria in this particular space, and I am encouraged by the potential. I note the joint venture between Gippsland Aeronautics and Mahindra Group, one of India’s great companies.
In March 2011, at the 2011 Australian International Airshow, GippsAero announced the GA10. It is planned for its first flight to take place in October 2011 and be ready for service in March 2013.

    RESOURCES:
Another example of innovation is Exergen Energy, who are present here tonight and represented by its Chairman, Martin Albrecht. Exergen are in the business of clean coal technology to reduce emission from brown coal-fired power stations. I understand that Tata Power has invested in your company, CONGRATULATIONS! I recently read in the Economist Magazine that India is in the process of building 70 new coal-fire powered generators. They are going to need your help.

    EDUCATION:
A brief comment on the educational front, I believe that an emphasis needs to be placed on quality, excellence and innovation and in recent discussions with Professor Ian Harper of the Melbourne Business School, Ian and I discussed the opportunity to export specific skills like those in our funds management industry. This applies to many areas of intellectual property, matched with our educational infrastructure a quality educational program should find no resistence.

    BANKING:
Congratulations to the ANZ bank who have been granted their initial banking license in India and I understand will have their official opening next month. I note that the ANZ Bank’s CEO to India Subhas DeGamia is here tonight. Thank you for coming. On the other side of the equation I have noted that there have been numerous applications by Indian banks to our regulators to come to Australia.
    CREATIVITY AND INNOVATION:
We welcome the Indian AFL team to Australia to play in the International Cup and welcome Shane Gill from the AFL.

My list could go on, however I use these few examples to illustrate the enormous potential and upside for commercial endeavour between Victoria and India. I would particularly like to welcome tonight two distinguished gentlemen Dr. Mohan Kaul who has travelled from London to be with us tonight to represent the Commonwealth Business Council and Dr. Amibadh Matoo, the Director of the Australia-India Institute whose key role is to extend the understanding of the Australia/India relationship. I note that recently the Victorian Government in conjunction with the Australia-India Institute has launched the Victorian Indian Doctoral Scholarships Program to be awarded to 10 leading Indian researchers. I say WELL DONE to the Government and the Australia-India Institute. I note that our Governor, Alex Chernov is a patron of the Australia-India Institute and although invited tonight was unable to attend as he and his wife are travelling abroad.

Lastly I would like to give my personal vote of thanks to all who have been involved in tonight’s organisation, my Victorian Committee, particularly James Breheny, my Vice President, our Executive Officer, Wendy Farrell and our Event Manager, Lisa Nolan.
    Thank you.
    John Pereira" ends...

And part of Ted Baillieu's speech at same dinner -

"Our aim is to set things higher; to set the benchmark higher. And it's time frankly, for Victoria to substantially increase its presence and trade engagement with one of the world's fastest growing economies. What we want to do is to move from just engagement with India to a real partnership with India. And you'll see this in the coming weeks and months as we set in train a two-year strategy to ensure India becomes a key focus of our global plans."

Ted Baillieu MLA - Premier of Victoria - 2011

As a side note if you google Martin Ferguson & Exergen you will see a long standing association. It seems to me Exergen are very well connected(read the credentials of the directors from their website), what remains to be seen is whether or not that helps Mantle.
