    bossdog I agree Joyce had no option but to do what he did.

    You don't need to convince me about the economics of why Joyce acted, I totally agree on those points.

    What I am disputing is whether he could of forewarned Qantas passengers so that they had a chance to make other arrangements.

    I know some have said that Joyce was unable to give any forewarning to Qantas passengers for various reasons.

    But that appears to be more of an easy excuse instead of a fact.


    Keep in mind that not all of those passengers left stranded were all holiday makers, some had very important reasons to be where they intended to fly.

    Whether that was for medical reasons (some life saving), weddings, funerals, seeing terminally ill relatives, etc. the things that there is no second chance to do.




    P.S.
    Just as one example of a possible small gesture of goodwill to Qantas passengers, why couldn't Joyce in his contingency plan have arranged for other airlines to help cater for some of the more important reasons Qantas passengers needed to be elsewhere?
