To all reading this post, my belief is that QAN does have an ability to make large profits (it has been done before), Domestic and regional divisions are going well but the International side is not according to Mr. joyce.I feel QAN would be best served to focus on improving realtions with employees and gettings its mainline product back to where it should be. If QAN was to again reach the heights of excellence that it once enjoyed, people will come back in droves and choose QAN over other carriers. This is what drives profits and makes airlines profitable, not sending jobs offshore, ignoring a failing/depleted product and getting your staff offside. Bottom line profit is just one part of the whole picture.
What happened to the pride that Australians and QAN once had in QAN being based in Australia and having a uniquely Australian character, an airline of aviation excellence? Profits will still be made here and perhaps (that is a big perhaps)QAN could make more if based os, but then it wouldn't be QAN, it would just be another airline not giving a stuff about maintaining Australian jobs and giving more weight to a bigger profit and bigger bonuses/wages for the executives. At what cost though??
