I asked a former collegue of mine about the deal:
'There's a few parts to it - IPTV, TransACT's MVNO relationship with Vodafone, iiNet wanting a mature C&G product set with existing customers and guaranteed placement on the WOG (Whole of Government) panels, Canberra backhaul and dark fibre along with the only tier 2 data centre in canberra.'


So it appears to be a much bigger deal that I assumed in my first post... this will be a pretty key buyout if they can get it for the right price.

TransACT has had the TV content deals for years now which will fit very well with the IPTV content requirements. TransACT have been reselling Vodaphone mobile, so that should add a nice chunk of customers to the wholesale deal.

Being a TransACT FTTN (Fibre-To-The-Node) customer I am pretty excited to see what iiNet can do!
