Your original post was basically a statement of fact: "environmental disaster just waiting to happen." but now your response is a little more ambiguous.
You say:
"Council has concerns over the damage the mine will do to the water supply and the damage to underground water."
CONCERNS in my vocabulary doesn't mean WILL yet your original post suggested that it was a DISASTER end of story.
You say there is a danger to endangered species, but the company has committed to a stringent biodiversity plan as a resolution to this.
You say the council doesnt have a lot of money so they must be pretty confident of a positive outcome. Well I say the company must also be pretty confident since they requested an expedited hearing.
You suggest in your subsequent post that many of residents of Majors Creek may be against this. Where is the proof...my understanding is that Majors Creek comes under the Palerang council, not the appealing coucnil. Indeed Majors Creek had representatives at the Community Consultative Committee re development of Darques Reef (refer http://www.majorscreek.org.au/sites/default/files/DR%20CCC%20press%20notification%20September%202011.pdf)
Further regarding noise pollution, these were already addressed with limitations on operating hours as requested by council being carried through...again refer to http://www.majorscreek.org.au/node/309
The FACT is that noone knows what the outcome will be because noone knows the details. The company has received approval but as you say a council (and others) have subsequently appealed this. So let the courts decide, don't come out with a blanket statement as if you somehow already know the outcome. By all means outline 'concern' but don't word them as if its a lay down misere.
People who invest in the company should only do so knowing the risk of this appeal being upheld could result in a signficant loss of original investment, but their decision is not helped by posts like yours that seem to suggest you know the outcome.
