Some pilots have been given LWOP and have jumped ship to other carriers
Its a long road that has no turning..
A few years ago, REX was in exactly the same position, its pilots were being poached by Qantas and Virgin, to the point where flights were being cancelled for the want of drivers.
REX solved that problem by setting up their own training academy, but it took a long time and cost them dearly.
