MM I am not so sure "they" (the 3 amigos LOL & others pretending to be saviors) any longer have control of the levers the way they would like us to believe; I wonder if they actually believe it? IMHO GFC1 and now Europe (& USA and Japan, even tho they don't seem to rate much press at the mo') are evidence that the Western model is broke & will have to be replaced with something else.

A "system" that worships economics and is therefor fundamentally premised on "Growth" is unsustainable. Pretty basic stuff but we no longer have the baby boomer growth phase; they are hoarding and not "accumulating".

I think the whole greenhouse debate is such a small part of the equation & maybs just a distraction from the larger issue of sustainability. Possible that Japan (stagnant for 20 years) is the future for the Western world. Coupled with the explosion of derivatives and "funny money" in general I can only see troubled times ahead med term.

as long as we keep hearing investment banking solutions to what are essentially probs of their making then be wary IMO. The fact is too many owe too much and they CANNOT pay it back. Borrowing more whether called "bail out" or anything else will not work. Until the peops owed the $$$ accept that they have to take a hair cut the systemic issues just grow. We have seen recently that this will not happen easily and that the banks are willing to overthrow elected officials and install their own rather than accept losses. All IMO.
