I understand what you are saying bungi,
However VSA/Wyckoff uses Relative Volume, not actual volume.
So the volume component of BHP on any particular day (or whatever timeframe you are working in), will change relative to it's previous days volume, and so on.
So it shouldn't hamper the reading of the volume, although Index volume's are always a little more difficult to read, as the changes are sometimes very small.
It's all relative.
Also remember that the volume is not all that is being read, the spread (range) of the bar and the closing point within the bar are also very important.
