If the banking situation rolls on into a snowball, I am a Gemmologist among other things and will be looking at something that Chinese investors hold dear. What is it? Jade and especially Imperial jade. Only 1 kilo of Imperial rough (Even green, mainly) comes out of Burma a year now and jade prices for high but not imperial grade are running around the $US1 million mark per kilo at the Burmese auctions now my dealer friends say. Imperial? Phew. It does not even come on the open market. All spoken for. There may be a little floating around Australia in auctions etc, but you need to know what to look for. Find some of that and any jade dealer in Asia will practically wet themselves when they look through the loupe. Try and find another gem like that in bad times. There is no paperwork and its easy to carry around the world with customs almost wholly ignorant.
