People like that have no idea of what "Duty of Care" actually means...!
And they don't realise that there is more radiation coming from the phone in her pocket than would be coming from the LAMP. That would be the phone made from REEs. But the radiation would be coming from the radio transmitters in the phone, not the materials.
And as for "Who votes for these people?" - that is the big question that always has me baffled - nobody I know will admit to having voted for either the Greens or the Gillard mob - but they do get the votes from somewhere...
