Stu,
I'll tell ya the truth bro.
When people on HC say they have just sold something but retain a 'core holding' it translates as this:
"I'm out. I was wrong and I can't take the pain any more. I'm broke. My wife is leaving. But, I have made so many ramping posts on this dog over the years and probably sucked a few others in who have also lost their entire wealth so I'll {Kerching big idea moment here!} just tell the thread I've sold my 'trading parcel' and retained a 'core holding'. What a great idea. Clever me.
That way I can skulk off without having to face the crowd; the people I've sucked in can't have a go at me; I don't have to apologise; and if by any chance it bounces just after I sold, I can go back onto that thread and claim Victory and Richness, even though I'm really broke."
It's just lies Stu. Most times anyway. That's why as a real strategy it never makes sense. Most don't question it, well done for doing so.
Beware out there.
