Up till now David Flanagan has shown no inclination to want to see Atlas swallowed up and if a bid did come from say the chinese or the indians you never know what Atlas management would do if they didnt want to give up the company.

We've seen in our markets instances where companies have crossover holdings ie. Soul Pattinson and Brickworks, that crossover has made it difficult for any predator looking at either of those businesses.

Whats to stop Atlas coming up with a similar arrangement with another midcap for example like Mineral Resources which has a market cap over $2 billion and could also be a target down the track.

This is just my own speculation of course but I cant see Atlas management just sitting idly by doing nothing if a bid does come from unwanted suitors who come in with an opportunistic low ball bid to get Atlas for knicks.

Maybe Im being to nationalistic but Australians have to stand up and make sure we dont continue to lose our companies of real potential to overseas interests like the chinese or the indians.
