Also one must remember with such large gas reserves and a small population Australia runs the risk of depressing the price of gas to levels that will make producers unprofitable.

However those that will remain viable are the ones with deposits close to domestic facilities that require the gas in large quantities e.g. electrical generation.

I do believe we will see a lot more of these new gen gas powered electricity generation power stations popping up as Coal fired plants become unprofitable due to carbon tax.
