re: thoughts on avm/mnut I've spent a lot of my time working on mining projects in Africa and at times in some hot spots. For example I was working in Burundi and Rwanda during the civil wars there back in the mid 1990's so I know a bit about working in hot spots. If you are working for a public company and certainly any company with any ouce of morals you never, ever get involved with asssiting the army or any rebels. You never provide them with vehicles or flights in charter planes or anything. When you have a young soldier waving an AK47 in your face its very hard to refuse him a ride but you have to do it to protect yourself, the company shareholders and for moral reasons. You just never know what the soliders or rebels may be up to. I can not believe that Turner put himself and his shareholders in this situation. Knowingly providing assistance to the DRC army was crazy. What the hell did he think the army was going to do? Ride in to town and hand out sweets to the children? Then there is the whole moral question to consider as well. These guys are going to be bloody lucky they don't all end up in jail. I dont' hold AVM but if I did I would be getting out right now. The other issue is the incredible damage that the actions of AVM have now done to all the other Aussie junior miners working in Africa. A shadow will be cast over these companies by association.
