We went to an auction too last w/e, and the agent had managed to get two people bidding, so a 4 bed 2.65 acre property sold for $835k. Speaking to her today, she said it was very rare to achieve that - sometimes six people would register to bid - and then nothing would happen.
Some friends went to a mortgagee in possession auction at Springfield lakes a couple of weeks ago - houses that had been listed at $950k and $995k sold for $500k and $550 respectively.
I asked her about the property I mentioned in the thread title. Owners had a business affected by the floods. Father of the husband is sick. So they are selling (having to sell), and buying a joint house with the father ..... read between the lines. Very sad.
