    It is just a bit of fun on their day of rest and lucky Aussies generally don't get too caught up in such inanity. Although it does surface from time to time in the mainstream. I guess, seeing all the debate on specific issues on the other threads, IMO, only serves to give creationists more currency.

    Agreed it is a bigger issue in the US, and creationism is absolutely entrenched in the country where I live, where the literal word of the bible is taken as fact. I just wonder sometimes, in a world where the presence of technology and science is more omnipotent than any supernatural god, why science isn't able to leverage itself to obtain broader acceptance of its principles, such that it need not ever compete with religion as a doctrine, but rather coexist with the philisopical elements of it.
