re: excellent discussion acturtle, I do the ultra short term thingy and I also hold others. Three years ago my stratgey was short term trade everyting and I made very good (and big) $$$$. However three yeasr ago everything was running as it was a very strong bull market and when I analysed my data at the end of the financial year to measure my success, the amout of profit I had would have far exceeded what I had already made if I held. Moral of the story....if it's running then let it run and only sell when there is confirmation of a downtrend.
