Kevqaz - you must be kidding, surely. The best post?

Seriously, I wanted to set the record straight about what exactly are religion or rather religions (and there have been thousands of them)

Professor Daniel C Dennett in his book Breaking the Spell, defines religions as "social systems whose participants avow belief in a supernatural agent or agents whose approval is to be sought."

He says that "core phenomenon of religion, invokes gods who are effective agents in real time and who play a central role in the way the participants think about what they ought to do".

Breaking the Spell is a fascinating book about religion as a natural phenomenon.
