Big ticket news items will often move the market in a particular direction for a day or two, then the market will revert back to what it was doing beforehand.
Don't know how many times the US employment report has caused the market to move the other way, then by the end of the day, futures are back to where they started.
Granted this news item could have more of an impact on the market than the usual..
