A drug that protects against sequelae of TBI would have obvious utility in military conflicts and the US recognises this. Hence the investment. However, the Pentagon is not answerable to public shareholders like a Pharma company, and can therefore sustain a greater level of risk in its investments. This investment is NOT the same as if say GSK was investing, who would require a much higher likelihood of going to market. Beware.
