(1) They are about to spud a well. Volume always increases. The punters always want a seat at the table.
(2) A new player has entered the game with enough firepower to dislodge the existing management with whom no one is enamored.
The new player has probably told all his mates that a well is about to spuded so their should be a lot of fresh interest.
There's no voodoo at work here, it's all publicly available.
