I found Emirates to be superior to Qantas for service -had a giggle at the use of stainless steel cuttlery, including knives.
But in defence of SIA, Scott, most of their pilots were Aussie years back & very good.
One I knew personally landed a 707 at Hong Kong with no nose wheel and hardly scratched it in the early 70's.
Superb pilot. His name was Kevin Yelland. I met him flying DC3's for MMA about 1960 in the North West.
Most of the SIA pilots were experienced Aussies of his era.
I said "WERE". I dont know about their current pilot sourcing.
