According to independent website checkers the etrade.com.au site is up but the redirect to invest.etrade.com.au is down..
You can keep checking their site at the link below...but copy and enter the exact text as well... invest.etrade.com.au
I don't think E*Trade will be back up until after Christmas.
Clearly, the downtime is unplanned and something has gone wrong or perhaps they suffered a malicious attack.
Still it costs $20 to setup an alternative webhost and takes about 12 hours to propogate and redirect a domain to an alternative web host where a temporary update message could be put on the front page.
All companies should have this backup strategy in place with an estimate of when the site will be back up.
It's completely unacceptable in this day and age.
At any rate, it's not really a good time to buy or sell, so just wait it out and let the market take its course and soon you will be back into it...better now than at the start of 2012...
