    if only it were that simple.

    "Stop the money payments and benefits to the boat people,"
    We can't,. We are obliged to support them under UN convention.

    "Process them within 3 months maximum, if not approved within that time send them back to their last point of departure"
    We can't. We are obliged to support them under UN convention.

    "If they are approved to stay in Australia give them a 5 year duration good behavior visa.
    Two strikes and they go back to where they come from."
    We can't. If they are accepted as genuine, we must offer them the same conditions as everone else without discrimination under agreed UN conventions.

    So, here we are once again at the crux of the problem. Every single proposal here and elswhere has been done to death.

    Once again: If they come here and claim to be refugees then we MUST deal with them under current laws and agreements.

    I don't claim to like this but I do understand reality and the only way out is to withdraw from current agrements.....and that ain't going to happen.
