Whats the difference between sending them to Christmas Island versus Nauru. Christmas Island has been excised by Howard so refugees dont have access to rights they would have onshore. Yet the boats keep coming. So why will they stop with Nauru?
The Geneva expert says refugees will keep coming regardless unless there are are a whole range of options put in place and it still wont stop them totally.
Why not pass legislation that gives any Australian government the ability to introduce measures that validate any offshore processing arrangements? Why play politics on this sensitive issue?
