I'm aware of the recent Anonymous attacks on various firms around the World but there is no mention of Etrade Australia specifically.
I think the main point here is that Etrade haven't even done the right thing by advising it's customers of what's happening and whether or not our accounts/funds are safe.
This complete disregard for their customers and arrogance is exactly why groups like Anonymous attack institutions like this.
It's a catch 22 situation for me.
What I would like though is something from Etrade outlining what the deal is. The Xmas email they sent out was a slap in the face but more importantly proves they still have the capabilities to contact their customers!
