There has been a lot of chatter on HC as to why these small Goldies do not track the POG and seem to track the index and sentiment.
There has been considerable noise also on IGR's induction to the ASX 200
because it would take the company into the instos radar range.
Many instos, however, have restrictions governing.
which stocks they can buy and dividend yield is a critical determinant.
Super funds, particularly, are greatly influences by divvies because
they can pay out pensions from divvies without selling stock.
Divvies also send a signal to the market that the company is profitable and
looks like being profitable in the future and that there is a low likelihood of a cap raise & dilution.
Given that IGR cap raised less than a year ago which hammered the SP, indication of a future dividend would be comforting to investors
It's all about being an aspirational Blue Chip.
cheers
