"Buoyant miners, leisure stocks lead FTSE revival
LONDON (Reuters) - BHP Billiton (LSE: BLT.L - news - msgs) and a buoyant mining sector led a bounce by the top shares on Thursday on the back of strong Chinese industrial data, high base metals prices and positive analyst comments.
BHP Billiton shares jumped 3.5 percent after a strong showing by their Australian-listed shares as dealers said Chinese demand seems to be holding strong and U.S. economic data also lent support. ABN AMRO (Amsterdam: AAH.AS - news) upgraded its rating on the stock to "buy" from "add", citing an expectation of continued demand for bulk commodities from Asia."
