Imperatore, I dont live in Australia and the only time I have been there is 3 hours to transfer flights. From the media and anecdotes I have the impression there is no shortage of jobs in Weteren Australia. People are drawn into mines to earn large wages and other industries struggle to find employees. As for training I imagine there are plenty of opportunities for Australians to educate and train, I would be very suprised if your Government and other agencies didnt have specific programs to help Aboriginals gain employment.
The Martu say they value there families, culture and spiritualism. In my opinion wealth could possibly have more of a negative effect than positive. If there brightest get to university are they going to return home? Are the young going to be interested in there culture or modern western culture. Look at what has happened to religion in the last 50 years. In countries that have wealth and security religion is weakening, it is where people are poor that religion still has influence.
I think some people on here want the mine to proceed and have rationalised the Martu also want it in exchange for economic advantages. Obviously I have no idea but I think it unwise to assume all the Martu are happy with this deal.
