Thanks for that. I looked at her website and other govt sources but no mention. It was an offhanded, but very important statement. My cynical side says if a politician / PM says "it won't happen" then it probably will, but this time I think they are done with 'super tweaking'...for now.
I noticed Bob Brown was leading the charge on this in another article.
My view is this about 15% on super vs 46.5% highest marginal rate: it depends on whether you think the super (salary sacrifice) is coming off the last earning for the year (and therefore saving 46.5% for high earners) or is it coming off the initial earnings (and therefore saving 0% and 16.5%). I think it's a matter of how you look at it.
The other thing is that if you earn say $200k of taxable income then the SGC is $18,000 now, rising to $24,000 in future and this may only leave $1,000 of potential salary sacrifice if you are imited to $25,000 in concessional contributions. This is a long-winded explanation, but basically super benefits 'for the wealthy' as is often touted, are becoming less and less.
